December Daily day 4

Greetings from Day 4!

The "intro page" for day 4 from the foundation

I loved the green snowflake paper and didn't want to cover it up so I printed my journaling on vellum so it would show through. Love how it turned out. I also borrowed a couple ideas from Ali Edwards' album on this spread by printing a larger photo (the one of Brecon with the lights) adhering it to cardstock and including it as its own mini-page.

the journaling page on vellum. supplies: ultra light vellum in white by Paper Accents; fonts: Georgia and CK_Alis_Hand_official (a free font Ali Edwards designed for Creating Keepsakes and makes avaliable on her blog; green snowflake paper from the Yuletide Designer Paper Pad by K & Co.

the right side page with small photo flap closed

a close up of the photo flap page. the twine lacing came about because of a goof...punched the first hole in a bad spot and didn't want to start over on the whole mini-page, so I punched another one and laced some cute twine through them- problem solved! supplies: cardstock in berry by Colormates; Bean Stalks red baker's twine by Jillibean soup; "the magic" acetate diecut from the Yuletide Words and Tags pack by K & Co.

Back of the photo flap page- another sweet idea from Ali Edwards (thanks, Ali!) -a letter to my boy. I think the rub-ons here are from Basic Grey.

Day 4 dated overlay page (photo flap open) - its hard to see here (these pics are awful!) but if you look closely at the pic of Brecon putting the tree section on top you can see the BSU game on in the background! Supplies: tree charms by Making Memories; chipboard stars from the Jovial collection by Basic Grey; white/red swirl paper from the Yuletide Designer Paper Pad by K&Co; red dot paper is the back side of Tis the Season stripe from the Christmas Delight collection by Little Yellow Bicycle

This is an awful picture of this page, it really turned out very pretty in person...this is the back side of the dated over lay page. I used an Ali Edwards December Daily 6x8 layered template and turned it white. I turned out the lights and took the picture with no flash. It was a great excuse to break out the tri-pod I got for my birthday last week! ;)

a shot of the tree page with the intro to day 5...I kinda like how it looks together
The journaling from the vellum page reads:
We spent the entire day together just the three of us. That is so rare for us! We had a lazy sort of day, taking most of the afternoon to put up the tree. This is our second year with a fake tree which Joe loves, since he hates tree shopping, but I’m still kind of torn. Going out to buy the tree was one of my favorite parts of the season. But, our tree looks beautiful, fake or not and Brecon had a great time decorating. It was a very slow process since we were watching the last Boise State game of the season while we decorated. Joe and I set up the base and arranged all the little branches so the tree was nice and fat, which I insist on in a tree. :) It was Brecon’s special job to put the little “baby tree” section on top. I love the globe lights we have and we still use the beads Joe picked out for our first Christmas together. One of my favorite things about decorating is bringing out the Hallmark ornaments we’ve collected since Beki was born. I love to see them all and remember the Christmases they came from. And it is always a little surprise to be reminded of the one we got last year. I always seem to forget. Brecon was thrilled to see his 2009 ornament: a windup train that plays music. He loves the ornaments that do things. He’s been pretending to bake cookies in my little oven, opening and closing the door, and checking on the latch to my little heart ornament. He got to put the star on top (with help from Daddy,) and loves to turn the lights on for us.
This day was WAY more work than I'm hoping to do for most days. (simplify, Erika, sheesh!) But I figure hey, the tree's a big deal, right? I will not make myself crazy doing this album. On to day 5!

December Daily Day 3

Here we are...day 3 :)

Day 3 with intro page transparency in place

Another Ali template...I am loving these! I wanted to use the template on my dated overlay page so I removed 3 of the photo spots and added the day 3 overlay to my template page. Supplies for this page: Ali Edwards December Daily 6x8 layered template from Designer Digitals; tradition strips paper from the Traditions collection by Fancy Pants Designs; office tab from the Jovial collection by Basic Grey, journaling is done with a black Zig Writer.

a closer look

The second page of the layout is on the back of the dated overlay page. I made the little filmstrip in PS. What a crack up these 2 are! Supplies for this page: red stripe paper from the Yuletide Designer Paper Pad by K& Co; journaling spot from the Christmas Delight Journal Tablet by Little Yellow Bicycle;

A closer look at the film strip...I love watching Max get sillier as we lose Brecon completely.

DD day 2

Hello Day 2! Here's the layout:

This is my day 2 "intro" page from the foundation

Day 2: the 2 page layout- day 2 ended up being almost entirely digital, which is totally new for me.

The left side page was made with an Ali Edwards 6x8 December Daily layered template from Designer digitals.

The right hand page was made in photoshop too. The "peace" brush is from the Ali Edwards Painted Christmas Words brush set from Designer Digitals. The paper at the bottom is "green snowflake" from the Noel set by Making Memories. I also added some tickets from the Findings Kit from the same collection.

A close up of the right side page. Love this pic.
The journaling reads:
When December hits I always want the everyday world to stop so we can just do fun holiday things. I’d love to give up on all the housework & just bake, play and craft all day. I know how crazy that is. December comes and the laundry still piles up, the dishes still need washing, and baking still takes back seat to rushed dinners. And for us December means Fed Ex gets crazy and unpredictable. We planned on putting the tree up tonight, but the front counter got backed up and Joe didn’t get home til almost 8:30. No way Brecon would last that long so he’d eaten and had his bath long before Daddy got there. So no tree today. No big holiday activity. But Joe was so happy to be home, excited to see us and hear about our day. Brecon demonstrated the advent we managed to get hung up and was very smug about the snazzy new Christmas jammies he picked out. He showed them off by dancing to holiday music on the radio while Daddy ate dinner. Then he was ready for a snuggle before bed. So, the everyday is what we did today. We did the laundry, dishes and cooking. And we laughed. Good enough for me.
On to day 3!

December Daily Day 1

I know I know! I'm behind already. I think I need to reassert my "simple and relaxed" philosophy about this project. I did get up to day 5 tonight. Page 5 (today's) isn't complete but the pics are printed and planned...so i'm close!
Like I said in an earlier post, I followed Ali Edwards' basic design plan since this was my first DD. I liked the safety net for me to have some extra direction starting out. In Ali's album she decided to do a 2 pg layout each day with her transparency sandwiched between. Since my "transparency" pages aren't all overlays, I decided to leave them as little intro or title pages at the front of each day. So I'll have 2-3 page layouts depending on the day.
So here is day 1...I apologize for the less than great photos...been a long day! :)

Day 1 with transparency in place

Day 1 dated page "well, hello snow"
I had put this together as a collage in PS but apparently I have printing problems or something because things are not printing the sizes I tell them too. No, no...they are like a 1/2 inch too big or small...grr . Anyway I just cut the pics out and added a paper background instead.

A close up of the title and super cute kiddo :)
the second half of the layout was made in PS.

2nd page of day 1 and day 2 intro page
there you have it! more to come :)
